Ben Dawson, a young Army Sergeant, has his entire military career in front of him. Though a good soldier, he is certainly not a super hero. He just wants to progress through the Army as a Warrent Officer, marry the girl he loves, and enjoy the Army adventure. But fate deals him a different hand. Together with a few high school buddies, they muddle through what has become a national security threat, for which they are ill prepared.
Agent Pepsy Flynn. Young, career oriented, strong , and efficient, she loves her job working for an un-named government agency. As close to a super hero the gang has ever met, she enters their lives to help unravel the mystery that has brought grief and terror to the small group.
Evil comes in many, unexpected forms. What appears to be a harmless man, turns out to be the face of evil itself, stopping at nothing to carry out his plans of global control. His mastery of time and teleportation wreak chaos onto those who stand in his way.
a Short Bio of the Author
Jim Perry has compiled numerous meaningful moments of his life in “Growing up, Jimmy.” It was written to keep Mr. Perry’s family history alive for generations to come. The author has beautifully penned down a significant part of his childhood, various instances from his adulthood, and countless moments from his life to laugh, cry, and learn from in his autobiography. With the hidden wisdom inside its pages, the book has a beautiful message to convey, “Life is short and should be enjoyed through work, interests, music, and, perhaps most importantly, the people we meet along the way. I am not famous nor wealthy, but I wouldn't trade my life for any other. Fame and fortune come in many different forms. I've had my share of both. Enjoy life, every minute of it, because Jimmy said so.”
A sneak peek at a portion of Book Two !
Keeping tension on the rope, Randy watched as Pepsy disappeared down the shaft to an unknown destination. He hoped the rope was long enough to allow her to reach a level spot where she could travel horizontally. She was to tug once if she got in trouble and let it go slack after two tugs if she reached a level surface. There remained enough tension on the rope to let him know she was still descending.
In the vertical shaft, Pepsy was sweating, her eyes feeling the sting as drops of perspiration rendered her more blind than she already was, given the diminishing light as she dropped deeper. Her hands were slipping on the thin nylon rope, and her fingers were throbbing with pain as she tried to keep her grip. Now and then, she could feel the unseen silk of a spider web brush past her face, waiting for an angry insect to crawl into her nose or ear. Praying she would reach bottom soon, she held tight, using the soles of her shoes to provide enough braking friction against the smooth metal and allow some semblance of a controlled descent.
Just then, what she had dreaded came to pass as something large and with many legs crawled down her face, over her chin, and into her blouse. Stifling a scream, she let go of the rope, grabbed at her chest, and promptly shot down the hole like a grape shooting through an unclogged kitchen drain.
Very unprofessional, she thought as she dropped through the darkness.
On the surface, Randy let out a sigh of relief as the rope went limp. She made it to level ground, he thought, but she forgot to give me the signal.
